What is the eligibility and other requirements to become IAS officer?


The candidates who are Indian citizens can only take this exam for IAS and IPS services of the Indian Civil Services.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from at least one recognized university - Central, State, Deemed or a foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates with correspondence education or government-recognized qualifications are also eligible. Final year students of graduation are also eligible to apply in the first phase of the exam.

UPSC candidates are very strict about the age limit. Only people between 21 and 32 years of age can apply for UPSC exams. There is age relaxation for some candidates of special categories, OBC (3 years) and SC / ST (5 years).
